Have you ever heard the phrase “extra jewels in your crown in heaven”? It means you have done something nice, something kind, something good that will give you favor in heaven.
There is nothing in the Bible that says this. However, going out of your way to be kind is never a bad thing. Being that person who is thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate, and compassionate jut makes you a better person.
Doing nice things for people feels good. Whether it is helping a friend’s family when someone is sick, cleaning a friend’s house when they work too much, or picking up milk and bread and muffins for friends that have been out of town so they will have breakfast the next day, the idea is simple. Be kind to a person in need or just because.
I do not believe doing those things truly gets you extra jewels in heaven, but it is a very sweet thought and saying. I think doing nice things for people just makes you a good person. At the end of the day, who doesn’t want to be a good person?
I hope you will do something nice for someone today. It may bring you just as much joy as it brings them. That joy is your extra jewels.
