When I was sixteen, I worked as a waitress. Every weekend, I opened the restaurant where I worked. On those days, I was there before the sun came up, but luckily I was not alone. Another girl my age opened with me. Each weekend morning we worked together, she would sing to me
You are my sunshine.
My only sunshine.
You make me happy,
When skies are gray.
You never know dear,
How much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away.
Those song lyrics have stuck with me through my life. I sang them to my kids when they were little. My daughter even has the lyrics on her wall.
Happy people spread happiness. Be someone’s sunshine.
