With so many closings and recommendations for social distancing, it’s time to think of things to do. It’s time to invest in ourselves, our families, and friends. Here are a few ideas:
Workout. There are so many exercises you can do at home if your gym is closed. If you have a home gym, now is the time to use it. If you need classes, I received an email from FabFitFun today that they are opening their library of workouts on FFFTV to non-members as well as their members. Peloton is offering a free 90 day trial to new subscribers too. Try yoga, cardio, kick boxing, or barre. If you don’t like classes, just get outside and go for a walk. Soak in some sunshine.
Read. There are so many amazing books out there. Go to the library or ask a friend to borrow a book or two. Here are some of the books I have read this past year or so.
- Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
- Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
- You are Here by Jenny Lawson
- Brave Love by Lisa Leonard
- Carry On Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton
- Crash the Chatterbox by Steven Furtick
- Wildflower by Drew Barrymore
- The Shack by William P. Young
- Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon
- Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson
Movies. We found ourselves watching more movies this weekend than the norm. I can watch movies over and over. However, I know some people don’t like that so here are a few recommendations if you need some.
- The Good Year
- Midway
- Yesterday
- Breakthrough
- Downton Abbey
- Me Before You
- Peppermint
- The Upside
- Overcomer
- Spencer Confidential
- 6 Underground
- Brittany Runs A Marathon
- Star Girl
Binge Watching. This is one of my favorite things to do during down time. I love a good series. Here are some favorites:
- Big Little Lies
- The Morning Show
- The Sinner
- Truth Be Told
- The Handmaid’s Tale
- Killing Eve
- Breaking Bad
- Dead to Me
- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
- Jack Ryan
- Modern Love
- Downton Abbey
Play. Play cards. (We love UNO in our house.) Play board games. Play video games. Put together a puzzle.
Clean. It’s a perfect time to spring clean. Deep clean. Clean out a closet. Clean out a drawer. Donate things you don’t need anymore.
There are so many things to do to keep us busy. Enjoy some down time with your family. Get a little extra rest when you can. Visit a friend. Call your parents. Video chat with a friend. Cook a meal. Make some cookies. Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. Be healthy. Be kind. Find joy in each day.
What are some things that you will be doing over the next few weeks? What movies, tv shows or books do you recommend?
XOXO, Jane Anne
