Parades and Pies

Happy Thanksgiving! Today I give thanks for everything between Parades and Pies. It’s tradition to start our Thanksgiving day with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. To end the day, I will have a piece of pie or two or more. For everything in between, I give thanks.

I give thanks for my mama’s lunch. I give thanks for the family and friends I will spend my day with. I give thanks for cinnamon pie crust my mama makes for the kids. I give thanks for the pick-up game of football my boys will play outside. I give thanks for White Christmas (which we watch each year). I give thanks for the colored Thanksgiving table cloth at the end of the night that 10 plus teenagers and kids will have colored on throughout the day. I give thanks for so many delicious pies (pumpkin, chocolate, lemon meringue, coconut, French silk, Kentucky, peach, cherry, blueberry, and pecan). I give thanks for the traditions I am teaching my kids, nieces and nephews. All of these things bring me joy.

Give thanks today for the little things that make today special. While we may have a very traditional Thanksgiving, that is not the only way to celebrate. Whether you take a trip or go out to eat, try to do something that’s tradition and/or something you are thankful for. And if you don’t have a Thanksgiving tradition, start one.

What are you thankful for? What will bring you joy today?

xoxo, Jane Anne

P.S. I’m also thankful for those that help me clean the kitchen. Those people may be my favorites. 😉

And for a little laugh this Thanksgiving.
