Joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. It is an emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune. Joy is possessing what one desires.
Where does your joy come from? Does it come from certain people, certain places, or certain things? For me, joy comes from multiple places.
I’m an overall happy person. I’m a morning person. I find joy in being the first person awake each day in the house and having time to read and drink coffee. Coffee definitely brings me joy – especially with some pumpkin spice creamer. My kids bring me joy. Music brings me joy. My faith brings me joy. My friends bring me joy. Traveling always brings me joy. Have you ever stopped and wondered all the things that are good in this world? The list is probably longer than you think.
Days are long. Life is stressful. We all have a million things to do. I get it. I am the queen of busy and stress. But every day, there is something that puts a smile on your face, that makes you happy, and makes the world a better place. That is joy. It can be a text, a good song on the radio you turn all the way up and sing at the top of your lungs in the car, when someone asks how you are and listens, hearing a friend laugh, or even doing something nice for someone else. It really can be the simplest thing. The trick is to remember you have experienced the joy each day. Life is short. Be happy. Show love to others. Be joyful.
